2012 Uniforms
The Upward Basketball season begins in January, and concludes in the middle of March. The first game is on Saturday, January 28. The registration cost is $55 and includes an Upward t-shirt and reversible jersey. There are separate boys and girls divisions starting at age 5 through 6th grade. The kindergarten division is usually co-ed.
practices and games
PRACTICES - Every team has one practice per week for one hour. Practices are held at Gateway Church of the Nazarene (140 Gateway Drive Oskaloosa IA).
GAMES - Each team will have about 8 games, starting on Saturday, January 28. Games are played on Saturdays and last approximately 60 minutes. Games are played at Gateway Church of the Nazarene. Starting with player introductions to the final horn, each game day is full of fun and excitement.
Game Format
Each game last approximate 60 minutes. There are two 18 minute halves, with a continuous clock. The clock will be stopped the last 1 minute of the 2nd half. Predetermined player substitutions occur every 6 minutes. Each player is allowed 2 fouls per 6 minute period. A 3rd foul whistled in a period will result on that player being substituted for the remaining minutes in that period. Man to man defense must be played at all times. There is no zone defense or full court defense allowed in Upward. A full list of Upward rules can be provided upon request.
